Online Marketplace

An innovative new online marketplace called Public Radio Exchange, or PRX, has been created to make it easier for both public radio stations and public radio producers to find, share, buy, and sell radio content.

Audio shows are now available online—a major step forward compared to having to share physical media; especially for a small producer with limited resources. A database-driven digital content management system makes it easy to search the system and to sort, categorize, list, and present shows.  PRX also provides for peer review of content, and includes a microeconomy to facilitate payment and to help standardize the fee structure.

PRX chose Kanda Software to build this system, which went live in late 2003.  Since its launch, PRX has received widespread support and praise, including a grant from the MacArthur foundation.
